On frequency, energy, and the most powerful currency you are probably not managing intentionally.
You believe you are solid. And in every practical sense of your daily life, that feels entirely true. You are a body. You take up space. You move through a world of fixed and measurable things – deadlines, decisions, relationships, responsibilities. You manage what you can see and touch and quantify. You work hard. You show up. You do your best with what you have.
But consider this.
You have walked into a room and known – before a single word was spoken – that something was wrong. You have sat across from someone who was saying all the right things and felt, with quiet certainty, that something did not add up. You have made a decision that looked perfectly logical on paper and felt, in your body, completely wrong. And you have had moments – perhaps rare, perhaps more frequent than you let yourself acknowledge – where everything aligned. Where you moved through a day with a quality of ease and clarity that felt less like effort and more like flow. Where you were, unmistakably, operating as the fullest version of yourself.
What was the difference? Not circumstance. Not luck. Not the particular configuration of that day’s to-do list.
Energy.
Yours. The frequency at which you were operating. The invisible but utterly real force that you broadcast into every room you enter, every conversation you have, every piece of work you touch.
And here is where it gets interesting. Physicists – not philosophers, not poets, but physicists – have spent over a century grappling with the fact that at the most fundamental level, the matter that appears solid is almost entirely empty space. That what we experience as fixed and real is in fact vibrating energy. That the boundary between where you end and the world begins is far less definitive than it feels. Crazy, isn’t it.
I am not a physicist and I will not pretend to hold the full weight of what that science contains. But I will say this – and I say it from lived experience as much as from anything I have ever read:
The moment you begin to genuinely sit with the possibility that you are not a fixed, solid thing doing your best in a fixed, solid world – but something far more dynamic, more alive, more energetically powerful than you have been led to believe – something shifts.
And that shift is where this conversation begins.
The Mystery We are Living Inside
Here is what I think we do not say enough: it is profoundly challenging to grasp what we actually are.
We are, by most honest accounts, a mystery to ourselves. The gap between what can be measured and what consciousness actually is remains one of the great unresolved questions of our time. The nature of energy, of awareness, of the life force that animates a living body – these are not questions that have been tidily answered. They sit at the edge of what is knowable, and they have humbled far greater minds than mine.
I think it is worth sitting in that humility for a moment. Not as a reason to disengage – but as an invitation to hold our existence with a little more wonder than we usually allow ourselves.
Because we have become very good at moving through life as though the questions are settled. As though we know, definitively, what we are and how this all works. And in that assumption of certainty we lose something essential – a reverence for the extraordinary improbability of being here at all, in this form, in this lifetime, with this particular constellation of gifts and wounds and knowing.
You are – by any honest measure – a miracle that does not fully understand itself.
And that is not a weakness. That is the beginning of a much more interesting conversation.
The most alive people I have encountered are not those who have all the answers. They are those who have developed a profound and comfortable relationship with the mystery.
What Energy Actually Means – In Human Terms
Setting aside the physics and the proof – because the truth of this does not actually require either – here is what most of us know from direct experience: Energy is real.
You have walked into a room and felt it – before a word was spoken, before a single fact was presented, something in you registered the atmosphere. Tension. Warmth. Grief. Celebration. You have met someone and felt immediately at ease, or immediately unsettled, without being able to explain why. You have had conversations that left you inexplicably depleted, and others that left you more alive than when you arrived.
You have had days where everything flowed – where you moved through the world with a quality of ease and clarity that felt almost effortless. And days where every small thing was a struggle, where the same tasks that were simple yesterday felt impossible, where you could not access yourself no matter how hard you tried.
This is not mood. This is not attitude. This is energy – your energy – and it is the most honest report you will ever receive about the state of your inner life.
Your energy is real. It is palpable. It affects every room you enter, every relationship you are in, every piece of work you create. And it is your most powerful currency.
The Currency You Are Not Managing
We are extraordinarily careful, most of us, about how we spend our time and our money. We track them, protect them, budget them deliberately.
We are far less intentional about our energy.
And yet energy is the currency beneath all the others. You can have every resource available to you – the time, the opportunity, the capability – and if your energy is depleted, fragmented, or operating from chronic misalignment, you will produce from that place. You will show up from that place. Every interaction, every decision, every creative act will carry the frequency of where you actually are – regardless of where you are performing to be.
This is not about positivity. It is not about pretending. It is about something far more honest than that.
It is about recognising that the quality of energy you bring to your life is quietly shaping everything within it – and that for most of us, that shaping has been happening without our conscious participation.
What Becomes Possible When You Begin to Work With It
This is where I want to be precise. Because this is where the conversation moves from interesting to genuinely life-altering.
When you begin to manage your energy with the same intentionality you give your time and your effort – not as an abstract practice but as a daily, grounded, honest discipline – the changes that follow are not subtle.
Your decisions become cleaner. When your energy is clear and coherent, you stop making decisions from exhaustion, from fear, from the desperate need to resolve discomfort quickly. You begin to make them from a place of genuine knowing – and the difference in outcome is not incremental. It is transformational. The relationships you choose, the opportunities you pursue, the boundaries you draw – all of it sharpens when the signal is no longer obscured by noise.
Your relationships change. Not because the other people change – though sometimes they do – but because you stop tolerating the ones that consistently drain you and stop being able to pretend that is acceptable. When you are operating at a higher frequency you become, quite naturally, less available for dynamics that diminish you. And simultaneously more magnetic to the people and connections that genuinely belong in your life. This is not selective or unkind. It is honest. And it transforms the texture of your daily existence in ways that are difficult to overstate.
Your work finds its true expression. There is a version of your work – of whatever it is you are here to contribute – that can only emerge when you are energetically aligned with it. Most of us have glimpsed it. Moments where something we created or said or led felt genuinely, unmistakably right. Where it carried a quality that we could not entirely account for with technique or effort alone. That quality is available far more consistently than we have been led to believe. But it requires that the energy behind the work is clear. Authentic. Genuinely yours.
You stop leaking your potential into places it does not belong. This is perhaps the quietest and most significant shift of all. When you begin to track your energy honestly, you start to see with uncomfortable clarity how much of it has been going – daily, habitually – to things that do not serve your becoming. Worry that changes nothing. Resentment that costs everything. The performance of a version of yourself that was never really you. Managing your frequency means reclaiming that energy and directing it – with intention, with purpose – toward the life you are actually here to live.
You do not need more time. You do not need more resources. In almost every case, what is required is a reorientation of the energy you already have – away from what diminishes you and toward what calls you forward.
The Life That Becomes Available
I want to paint a picture – not of perfection, but of possibility.
Because I think many of us have quietly stopped believing that the version of our life we sense is available to us is actually within reach. We have rationalised the gap between where we are and where we feel we are meant to be as inevitable. As the price of responsibility, of realism, of being a grown adult in a complicated world.
I do not believe that.
I believe that gap is, in most cases, an energy problem before it is anything else.
When a person begins to genuinely, consistently operate from their highest available frequency – when their choices, their relationships, their daily rhythms are increasingly aligned with who they actually are – the life that begins to emerge is not unrecognisable. It is deeply, almost achingly familiar. It is the life they always sensed was theirs. The work that feels like expression rather than performance. The relationships that feel like home rather than effort. The sense of moving through each day with a quality of presence and purpose that makes even the ordinary feel significant.
This is not reserved for the fortunate. It is not dependent on circumstance. It is the direct result of treating your energy as the sacred, finite, extraordinarily powerful resource it is – and beginning, with honesty and with courage, to steward it accordingly.
The version of yourself you are most capable of being is not waiting for conditions to be perfect. It is waiting for your energy to be aligned.
That is the work. And it is the most worthwhile work I know.
What Raises It. What Drains It.
Energy is drained by chronic misalignment. By the accumulation of living in ways that are not truly ours. By relationships and environments that require us to diminish ourselves in order to belong. By unresolved emotion with no outlet. By the widening gap between who we present ourselves to be and who we actually are. These things are not just psychologically costly. They are exhausting in a way that no amount of rest fully restores – because the depletion is not physical. It is something deeper.
Energy is raised by coherence. By honesty, first with ourselves. By creative expression that is genuinely ours. By stillness that is not collapse but true presence. By connection that does not require performance. By work aligned with something we actually believe in. By the particular quality of aliveness that arises when we are doing something unmistakably, precisely ours to do.
And most powerfully of all – by awareness. By the practice of beginning to notice our own energetic state with curiosity rather than judgement. To feel the difference between expansion and contraction. Between operating from our centre and our edges. Between the days we are truly present and the days we are merely functioning.
That noticing – sustained, honest, compassionate – is where everything begins.
A Final Thought
We are living inside a mystery we cannot fully resolve. What we are, beneath and beyond the roles we play, remains genuinely open. And I have come to believe that is not something to be anxious about.
It is something to be galvanised by.
Because within that mystery lives a possibility that no amount of certainty could contain. The possibility that you are far more than you have been operating as. That the energy moving through you is responsive – to your choices, your attention, your integrity, your willingness to show up as fully and honestly yourself as you are capable of being in this lifetime.
You are not a fixed thing doing your best in a fixed world.
You are energy, in motion – with far more influence over your own frequency, and therefore your own life, than anyone ever told you.
Begin there. And watch what becomes possible.
Something in this resonating? That feeling is information too.
